AllerWell® guest rooms have been outfitted with three products (shown below)certified for allergen reduction by independent laboratories. WHAI member hotels must outfit a minimum of 5% of their guest rooms with these amenities.
To achieve Certified AllerWell® status, hoteliers must outfit at least 5% of guest rooms to the AllerWell® level of allergen reduction. Also, all other guest rooms must be outfitted with hypoallergenic bedding encasements. This means that 100% of a Certified AllerWell® hotel's guest rooms provide a reduced allergen environment.
The AllerWell® Products are:
- Hypoallergenic bedding encasements that eliminate dust mites (the #1 allergy trigger)
- Shower filters to remove damaging chlorine (added by nearly all cities as a disinfectant)
- A true HEPA air purifier that captures microscopic airborne allergens such as pollen, mold spores, pet dander, and even bacteria.
All AllerWell® hotels must carry out cleaning and maintenance protocols set by the WHAI.
To maintain their AllerWell® status, hoteliers must attest on a monthly basis that the required procedures have been completed. Hotel operators who do not meet the requirements of the WHAI are not permitted to promote their hotel as offering AllerWell® guest rooms.
